Most people would never consider buying a luxury SUV with over 300,000 miles on the odometer. So naturally, I booked a one-way flight to Atlanta, Georgia, purchased a high-mileage 2007 Land Rover Range Rover L322, and attempted to drive it more than 700 miles back home to Maryland in a single day.
The Range Rover L322 has earned a reputation for being one of the most capable luxury SUVs ever built, but also one of the most misunderstood. The 2007 model is powered by Land Rover’s 4.4L V8 engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive. Combined with air suspension, a luxurious interior, and genuine off-road capability, the L322 was one of the most advanced SUVs of its era.
But can a nearly 20-year-old Range Rover with over 300,000 miles still be trusted on a long-distance road trip?
In this video, I fly to Atlanta, complete the purchase, and immediately point it north for a marathon drive through multiple states. Along the way, we’ll see if this high-mileage Rover can still deliver the comfort, capability, and reliability that made the L322 a legend among enthusiasts.
