Today on jamzDOTnet – Cars, DIY, and Adventures, I’m taking a look at the Iyilo Plug-In Level 2 EV Charger. In this video I’ll unbox it, walk through the setup, mount it on the wall, and test it to see how it performs in real-world charging.
This Level 2 home EV charger uses a NEMA 14-50 plug and a J1772 connector, making it compatible with most electric vehicles (and Tesla vehicles with an adapter). The plug-in version delivers up to 40 amps of charging power (about 9.6 kW), allowing much faster charging compared to a standard Level 1 outlet.
One interesting feature of the Iyilo charger is its built-in temperature monitoring sensors in both the NEMA plug and the charging connector, which help detect overheating and automatically reduce power if needed for safety.
