New Jersey State Vehicle Auction: 130 Cars and Trucks Up for Grabs November 7, 2026
The State of New Jersey is running a live vehicle auction this Saturday, November 7, at 9:00 AM in Trenton, and the lot list reads like a municipal motor pool getting cleared out. 130 vehicles, 2003 to 2019, 90 of them running and 40 tagged inoperable. No online bidding, no proxy bid, no buyer premium tacked on at the end. You show up at New Jersey State Distribution and Support Services, 1620 Stuyvesant Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08618, with a driver’s license, you register at the door, and you bid against whoever else walked in.
What makes this one worth attention is the data. New Jersey publishes the hammer price of every lot after every sale, and it has done so for at least the past 5 auctions. A buyer walking into the yard on Saturday can pull up what a 2012 Tahoe or a 2016 Fusion brought in October, in July, in June. That changes the game when the auctioneer starts calling.
What Is Actually on the Block
67 Fords lead the count. 20 Fusions spanning 2008 to 2018, 13 F-250 pickups from 2003 to 2019, 6 F-350 service trucks, 5 F-150s, 8 Focuses, 5 Explorers, and a handful of Rangers, Transit Connects, and cargo vans. Chevrolet brings 23 rigs, 9 of them Tahoes, 2 Suburbans, 8 window vans, a 2013 Caprice, and a 2013 Impala. Dodge has 21, mostly Caravans and Journeys with 2 Avengers and a 2006 Ram 1500. 7 GMC Sierras, 9 Jeeps, and 3 outliers round it out: a 2009 Mercedes E350 with 178,006 miles, a 2009 Honda Accord showing 226,250, and a 2014 Nissan Altima with only 11,893 miles that will not start.
Lots 1 through 90 are the running vehicles. Lots 91 through 130 are flagged INOP, and 3 carry salvage titles. 11 lots have no odometer reading at all, including 4 of the 6 F-350 service trucks. The 2 that do show readings are at 382,350 and 376,744 miles. Those are highway maintenance rigs, and the numbers prove it.
The 24,451-Mile Tahoe and the Rest of the Low-Mileage List
Among the 90 runners, the odometers range from 24,451 to 245,580 miles with a median of 139,102. The low end belongs to lot 47, a 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe with 24,451 miles. That is the truck everyone will cluster around during preview. Behind it sit a 2016 Jeep Patriot at 54,259 miles, a 2008 Ford Ranger at 57,695, a 2015 Transit Connect at 59,742, and a 2013 Impala at 72,741. The newest running vehicles are a 2019 F-250 regular cab with 200,805 miles and 3 2018 Fusions ranging from 99,142 to 133,806.
The police-package rigs are easy to spot. A 2013 Caprice at 97,792 miles, a 2014 Taurus Police Interceptor at 143,710, 4 Explorers from 2014 to 2016 between 129,765 and 204,807 miles, a 2009 Crown Victoria with no reading, and the Tahoes. 7 Tahoes are running, from 24,451 to 245,580 miles, and 2 are inoperable at 203,274 and 290,510.
Where Is the New Jersey State Vehicle Auction Held?
The auction takes place at the New Jersey State Distribution and Support Services facility, located at 1620 Stuyvesant Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08618.
This state-operated facility serves as the location for the public sale of surplus government vehicles. Unlike online auctions, this event is strictly in person, allowing buyers to walk the lot, inspect the vehicles, and participate directly in the bidding.

For anyone planning to attend, arriving early is a good idea, particularly if you want to inspect several vehicles before the bidding begins. Friday’s preview is especially valuable because engines may be started during that session. On Saturday, vehicles cannot be started, so Friday offers the best opportunity to get a closer look at mechanical condition.
Remember to bring a valid government-issued photo ID for registration. All attendees must be at least 18 years old, and pets are not permitted.
How the Money and Pickup Work
This is a live, in-person auction only. Registration opens at 8:00 AM on sale day at the Distribution Center, and you can also register on preview day. Bring a driver’s license or government photo ID. The title goes only in the registered bidder’s name.
Preview is Friday, November 6, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and Saturday from 8:00 AM until the auction starts at 9:00 AM. You can start an engine on preview day. On auction day, nothing gets turned on. Everyone on the yard must be 18 or older, and no pets.
When the hammer falls, you put down a bid deposit of $150 or 10% of the bid, whichever is greater, in cash, money order, or certified check made out to Treasurer, State of New Jersey. That deposit is not refundable once applied. A bidder planning to buy several vehicles can leave a cash or certified-check fund at registration and draw deposits from it. The balance is due by 3:00 PM on Friday, November 13, by certified check or money order only. Cash, personal checks, company checks, and credit cards are not accepted for the balance. Vehicles must be removed by that same Friday at 3:00 PM or the state charges $40 a day storage. A balance unpaid by the 2nd Friday, November 20, forfeits the deposit and the vehicle, which goes back into a future sale.
Everything sells as is, where is, with all faults. All sales are final, no returns or adjustments for any defect whether or not an inspection could have found it. The state identifies known defects where it knows them, which is why the INOP flags are there. The director reserves the right to reject any bid.
What the Same Stuff Brought This Year
New Jersey posts full results of every sale. Across 5 sales from November 2025 through October 2026, 623 vehicles sold for a combined total of $1,633,750. The median price has stayed between $1,800 and $2,200 the whole year. The state sells almost everything it lists, between 96% and 98% of lots each time. The floor is low. The cheapest lots every month go for $500 to $600.
Chevrolet Tahoes of the 2012 to 2014 generation sold 8 at a median of $2,050 in October, ranging from $700 to $4,200. 18 sold at $2,800 in July, where 2 2019 Tahoes made $10,200 and $11,200. 5 sold at $2,100 in June and 5 at $2,600 in May. Ford F-250 pickups have swung with condition. 7 in November 2025 hit a median of $8,400, up to $12,500 for a 2015 extended cab, but only $1,600 to $2,200 for the 2 sold in October. F-150s brought $4,000 to $7,000 in October, a median of $5,600. Fusions have run $2,000 to $3,200 at the median all year, Explorers $1,700 to $3,000, Focuses $1,200 to $2,700, Caravans $1,200 to $1,800, Journeys $1,600 to $2,400. The 2013 Caprices, of which the state has sold more than 60 across the 5 sales, brought $1,600 to $3,000 at the median. The service trucks and cargo vans are where the money has been. A 2015 F-350 utility brought $10,500 in October, a 2015 cargo van $11,500, and 8 cargo vans in November 2025 sold at a median of $8,750.
What the Record Does Not Include
40 INOP lots is a larger share than any of the 5 prior sales. The runners in the back of the brochure, the F-350 service trucks with 376,000 and 382,000 miles and the 2019 Fusion with 40,225 miles that will not start, are the lots where a mechanic in the preview line has the edge. A bidder who can diagnose a no-start or price a transmission swap is looking at a different set of numbers than the room.
Final Thoughts: 130 Vehicles, 1 Day, and Plenty of Opportunities
130 state vehicles, live only, Saturday, November 7, 9:00 AM, at New Jersey State Distribution and Support Services, 1620 Stuyvesant Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08618.
