It’s time to say goodbye to my 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300E W124.
I’ve owned this classic Mercedes for about five years, and now the time has come to pass it along to its next owner.
The 1987 300E comes from an era when Mercedes-Benz had a reputation for engineering cars to an incredibly high standard. Under the hood is the 3.0-liter M103 fuel-injected inline-six, producing 177 horsepower and sending power to the rear wheels. It’s smooth, comfortable, solid, and unmistakably German.
The W124 was remarkably advanced for the 1980s, featuring a sophisticated five-link rear suspension, anti-lock brakes, excellent aerodynamics, and the kind of build quality that helped these cars develop their reputation for durability and longevity.
