I go to an advertising auction – what automobilia do I buy?

Hey, it’s Jason, and today I’m in Frederick Maryland attending an advertising auction by Parzow Auctions at the Frederick Maryland Fairgrounds. Follow along as I show the auction and some of the awesome advertising and automobilia they have for sale.

Collecting antique automobilia and advertising involves the acquisition and preservation of vintage items related to automobiles and promotional materials. Enthusiasts in this field seek out a diverse range of artifacts, including classic car memorabilia, oil and gas signage, vintage dealership paraphernalia, and promotional items from automotive companies. These collectors are drawn to the nostalgia and historical significance of these pieces, which often showcase the evolution of automotive design, branding, and marketing strategies.

Automobilia collectors may focus on items such as old license plates, classic car manuals, vintage automotive tools, or even original gas station pumps. Advertising materials form a significant part of this hobby, encompassing vintage posters, brochures, and signs that reflect the changing trends and styles in the automotive industry. Collectors are not only interested in the aesthetic appeal of these items but also in the cultural and historical context they represent.

The value of antique automobilia and advertising items can vary based on rarity, condition, and historical significance. Some collectors view these pieces as investments, while others appreciate them for the joy they bring in preserving and celebrating the rich history of automobiles and advertising. As with any collectibles, a vibrant community often surrounds this hobby, with enthusiasts sharing their discoveries, knowledge, and passion for preserving the legacy of the automotive world.
