The Grand Carousel at Knoebels Amusement Resort is one of the most famous historic carousels in the United States and a true piece of early amusement park history. Built in 1913 by George Kremer with beautifully hand-carved horses by Charles Carmel, the carousel originally operated at Riverside Park in New Jersey before being moved to Knoebels in 1942. The massive four-abreast carousel features 63 hand-carved wooden horses and three chariots, all spinning to the sound of traditional carousel music. One of its most beloved traditions is the brass ring game, where riders on the outside row grab rings as the ride spins, hoping to catch the single brass ring that earns them a free ride. Still operating today, the Knoebels Grand Carousel offers visitors a rare chance to experience a classic amusement ride almost exactly as it was enjoyed more than a century ago.
