The Reliant Regal Supervan III’s three-wheel configuration was engineered so that the single rear wheel could theoretically be steered independently of the front axle during extreme maneuvers, yet this capability was deliberately disabled in production versions because early testing revealed that drivers would instinctively overcorrect with the rear wheel, making the car even more prone to the rollover incidents it became infamous for.
