The Hyundai Ioniq 5’s integrated Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) system can supply up to 3.6 kilowatts of continuous power from the battery to external devices, but the system deliberately limits output during hot weather because engineers discovered that drawing maximum power while the battery was thermally stressed would create internal resistance heating that could paradoxically drain the battery faster than a lower-power supply would, making the car intentionally “weak” under conditions where drivers most needed portable power.
