The Bugatti Veyron’s engine bay is positioned so far toward the rear of the chassis that the 16-cylinder engine sits partially behind the rear wheels’ centerline, requiring engineers to route the transmission tunnel forward through the cabin in such a way that it intrudes into the passenger footwell—forcing Bugatti to deliberately narrow the pedal box and compress the driver’s leg room to accommodate what is essentially an engine compartment that extends into the interior, making the world’s most powerful production car also one of the most cramped to actually drive.
