Maryland just shook up the car world hard 🚗💥. The historic plate rules changed, and instead of a rolling “25 years old” rule, things shifted to a fixed cutoff. That means a bunch of cars that used to qualify for historic plates suddenly do not anymore. If you are a collector or classic car owner, this probably felt like finding rust where there should not be any.
The impact is real. Some Maryland drivers are now facing regular plates, inspections, and higher registration costs. Not exactly what you signed up for when your car was happily cruising around with historic tags.
But do not panic yet. Help may be on the way. Maryland Bill 4 is looking to fix this by bringing the rule back to what it should be, a true 25-year rolling requirement, not a locked-in “1999 and older” situation.
So take a breath, car friends. The fight for historic plates is not over yet!

I respectfully ask that you support and approve House Bill 4. This change would restore fairness, protect automotive heritage, and ensure that historic vehicle registration is applied as it was originally intended.
