1988 Chevrolet S10 Blazer

Growing up my dad had a first-generation blazer, 4×4, red with a gray stripe. We went on vacations, family outings, and endless trips. My father passed away in 1992 and shortly after, the blazer was sold. While browsing the local car club Facebook group, focused on classic cars, someone posted this ’88 Blazer. It wasn’t getting a lot of interest, probably because it was surrounded by classic cars and this wasn’t considered anything “special”. Additionally, the passenger door was banged up from a lawn mower hitting it.

I loved it. It wasn’t the same color as I had growing up, but everything else was close enough. Shortly after seeing it, I set up an appointment to see it in person and ended up working out a deal to purchase the blazer. It’s in remarkable shape and has minimal rust. The next day, I arranged to have it towed to my building.

What’s the story on this? It’s a 4 owner Blazer, with me being the 4th owner. The original owner lived in the south and took great care of it, and purchased the Blazer new. He sold it to a guy that was in the military and stationed at a base nearby. Soon, he was transferred north and took the blazer with him (Maryland/PA) where he started to restore it. Fresh paint, many old bits replaced, new bumpers, all sorts of work. However, in 2021 he was being sent back south and while he planned to take the Blazer, I’m told after all the work and paint, somebody hit it with a lawnmower, really banging up the door. He purchased a new door, and never even unboxed it, but somewhere along the line decided he didn’t want to take the Blazer. Was the lawnmower incident the final straw?

In 2021 he sold the Blazer to a guy in York, PA, who purchased it for his son. However, his son decided he didn’t want it and wanted a car (I’m sure his son will reflect on this year’s down the road!) so he listed it on the classic car page. Casually he mentioned it had some spare parts.

June 2022, I purchased it from him, the 4th owner, with a 1988 S10 Blazer that in my opinion is SUPERB. On yea, those parts he mentioned turned out to be 2 new bumpers, a brand new door, weather stripping, new badges, bins, and bins of bits, all of which will continue to make this Blazer remarkable.

Welcome to Jason and Jack’s garage, Blazer!
