The great travel website show down!

Over the past few weeks Travel 2.0: Interactive Trend Report was running a poll for the best state travel website. The finals came down to Michigan and Virginia and Virginia was losing for a good part of the race. However, at the end, we pulled through and won! Virginia is officially the best state travel website and Blue Mountain Oasis and Bryce Condo are proud to be part of it!

Bad Monday :(

After my trek from Maine was over on Friday (a horrible trip with flight cancellations which I'll blog about later) I got back to the NYC area on Friday. We had a car rented and drove to DC for a wedding at Georgetown. Friday night we arrived in Tysons Corner and stayed at the Westin on Lessburg Pile. It was a great hotel, awesome price, and we really enjoyed it. The wedding was very nice and the weather was amazing. Sunday I drove to Blue Mountain to perform some work and headed back to Jersey Sunday night.

Nice Job Ramada

I posted earlier about the Lakeshore Ramada I stayed at in Chicago and wanted to provide a pleasant update. After logging my complaint on Ramada.com I got a call from the general manager. He said the fax came over from corporate and he wanted to discuss it with me. The complaint was valid and he saw mold in the shower, etc., and his crew is fixing it. He also said they are upgrading all the rooms and my section wasn't in this phase. As a result, they refunded me 25%.

Not bad for customer service Ramada! Keep it up.

Chicago

I spent 3 days in Chicago last week and I must admit it's one of my favorite cities. Sure, the weather was amazing (low 80's) and I didn't have to experience brutal winter weather, so that may sway my thoughts a little.

Will your bank be next?

In this day and age it's no longer strange to think a bank might go out of business. With the IndyMac explosion and others I was doing a little research on-line. I found an interesting blurb about the next 10 banks, in the most danger, that could possibly go under.

Indy Mac and the FBI

Maybe I'm lucky, who knows, but time and time again I seem to have something go wrong only to turn out to be in my best interest later on. If you read my post earlier this week about my attempt to purchase a condo in Pennsylvania to live in you would know I was complaining about the bank I was using "closing up shop" and not accepting new loans. Today Amber e-mailed me a clip from CNN.com, "A source said the federal government is looking into whether the bank engaged in fraud."
